Our bodies tell the truth
Have you ever felt a nervous sensation in your gut or tingling in your extremities during a conflict? When meeting someone for the first time? I have. And for ages, I just ignored the signals my body gave me. Now I understand that my body cannot lie, and she is rarely wrong. Our thinking brains may tell us to ignore the body’s cues and messages to preserve social or familial peace. But I believe it is far more sustainable to help the “body brain” and the “thinking brain” communicate effectively and harmoniously. I teach my clients how to interpret the signals their bodies send, and how to turn those knowing signals into boundaries.
I help clients connect their physical, emotional and spiritual knowing in a way that fosters robust and meaningful living.
When we consistently ignore our body’s signals, we feel anxious. Anxiety/stress has been shown to contribute to a cascade of physical, emotional, and mental health challenges including depression, low self-confidence, substance use, relationship strain, difficulty coping, and more. As we work together to understand and attend to your stressors, you will find greater peace, personal power, and connection.
As a licensed MFT, I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I am trained in several trauma-focused therapies, including EMDR, Super Resourcing, and Family Systems Trauma. I am also trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), which I use with couples.
When you are ready, I am here to help.

Kristen Morefield, MFT
Welcome! As a former elementary school computer lab instructor, I found that my teacher friends needed support as much as my student friends. Over the years, I felt drawn to explore the link between mental health and the environment of education. Would support for teachers result in more connection in classrooms? Would focusing on the emotional wellness of a whole school campus reduce stress, depression and self-harm?
The answers are yes. Activities that acknowledge and address emotions foster greater mental, social, and emotional connection in any environment.
I help clients to process unhealed wounds relating to loss, weak or difficult connections with caretakers, or trauma. Focusing on attachment and emotions through the lens of body wisdom and somatic experiences allows us to find sometimes elusive roots of anxiety, depression and low self-worth. In sessions we aim to integrate all of the aspects of self and to increase resilience. We may practice mindfulness, develop behavioral modification techniques, explore creativity, or connect with spirituality. We will find what works best for you.
