Our Bodies Tell the Truth
IF YOU feel unsafe or unsure, Listen to your body
Our thinking brains may tell us to ignore the body’s cues and messages, but the body cannot lie. My work is to help the body brain and thinking brain communicate more effectively and harmoniously. I am trained in CBT (Cognitive, Behavioral Therapy) as well as several trauma focused therapies including EMDR, Super Resourcing, and Family Systems Trauma. I am also trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), which I use with couples. As a licensed MFT, I work with individuals, couples, families and groups.
I am passionate about supporting clients to identify the roots of their stressors and heal them. Anxiety, or stress, has been shown to contribute to a cascade of physical, emotional, and mental health challenges including depression, low self-confidence, substance use, relationship strain, difficulty coping, and more. I have extensive experience working with trauma survivors, with couples, and with students. I help clients connect or reconnect with their best selves: that part of each of us that intuitively knows how to live a full and meaningful life.
When you are ready, I am here to help.

A Message from Kristen Morefield, MFT
As a former elementary school computer lab instructor, I found that my teacher friends needed support as much as my student friends. Over the years, I felt drawn to explore the link between mental health and the environment of education. Would support for teachers result in more connection in classrooms? Would focusing on the emotional wellness of a whole school campus reduce stress, depression and self-harm?
The answers are yes. Activities that acknowledge and address emotions foster greater mental, social, and emotional connection in any environment.
I help clients to process unhealed wounds relating to loss, weak or difficult connections with caretakers, or trauma. Focusing on attachment and emotions through the lens of body wisdom and somatic experiences allows us to find sometimes elusive roots of anxiety, depression and low self-worth. In sessions we aim to integrate all of the aspects of self and to increase resilience. We may practice mindfulness, develop behavioral modification techniques, explore creativity, or connect with spirituality. We will find what works best for you.
Is now the time to
break through?
